Homemade Teeth Whitening Remedies

Everyone wants to feel attractive.

Shiny, healthy hair; radiant skin; straight, white teeth…these are often the standards by which we define outward beauty.

An incredible amount of money is spent annually by men and women trying to maintain those trademarks of beauty…nearly $1.4 billion is spent on over-the-counter teeth whitening products alone.

Here at Montgomery Dentistry, we understand the importance of feeling confident about not only the health of your teeth, but the appearance of them as well.  So we want to share with you 3 home remedies for whitening your teeth.  These remedies are effective and, best of all, as inexpensive as you can possibly get!

(Warning:  We are not promising that these methods are going to taste great!)

Baking Soda And Lemon Juice Paste

  • Several teaspoons of baking soda
  • Enough lemon juice to form a paste
  • Paper towel
  • Toothbrush

  1. Mix the baking soda and lemon juice together until a paste has formed.
  2. Dry your teeth with a paper towel.
  3. Put a good amount of the paste on your toothbrush and apply.  Leave the paste on for 1 minute.
  4. Rinse well.

Strawberry, Salt, And Baking Soda Scrub

  • 1 to 3 large strawberries
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Paper towel
  • Toothbrush

  1. Mash the strawberries into a pulp.
  2. Add the salt and baking soda.
  3. Dry your teeth with the paper towel.
  4. Apply a generous portion of the scrub with the toothbrush and let the mixture sit for 5 minutes.
  5. Rinse well.

Coconut Oil Pulling

  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil

  1. Before you brush your teeth in the morning, swish the coconut oil in your mouth for 8 to 10 minutes.
  2. Rinse with water, then brush normally.

You can use these whitening methods daily and, after about a month, you should start to see some great results.  And to see the results of these whitening methods firsthand, check out our video blog…three of our very own staff are participating in a month-long contest to find out which home remedy is the most effective!
