Happy Halloween

Tis the season for candy, chocolate, costumes, and party’s. BUT… let’s not forget the importance of caring for our teeth. Here is a little dental knowledge: A neutral pH balance for your teeth is 7. Sugar decreases pH levels of your mouth (more acidic) making the teeth more susceptible to decay. So maintaining a neutral pH level will help prevent cavities. When your pH level is lower than neutral it takes 30 minutes to level out to neutral… So think about this….. If you eat candies and chocolate all day or drink sodas, teas or anything with high levels of sugar and never brush, floss, or rinse your pH level has never had a chance to neutralize creating an environment for cavities to develop.

We want you to have LOADS OF FUN this holiday but just remember to brush and floss more. Even rinsing with water will help.

An extra tip to our patients who have crowns and bridges: Be careful with sticky and hard candies.

Be Safe and Have Fun,

From your friends at Montgomery Dentistry
