“A smile is a curve that sets everything straight.” – Phyllis Diller
Everyone wants to be happy and healthy. The problem is, to achieve these things often costs so much money!
To be healthy seems to require a huge grocery budget that can accommodate everything organic.
And to be happy apparently involves purchasing the finest things in life to make you look beautiful.
But we here at Montgomery Dentistry know that happiness and health don’t have to cost a fortune…in fact, it can be free!
Did you know that smiling, one of our chief concerns, can be responsible for a person’s increased happiness, attractiveness, and even longevity?!?
When you smile, your brain releases endorphins (those feel-good hormones), which can:
- Reduce stress and lower blood pressure. (Source: Department of Psychology, University of Kansas)
- Put you in a better mood. (Source: Proceedings of The Royal Society)
- Act as a natural painkiller. (Source: Proceedings of The Royal Society)
Also, when you smile your body relaxes. And when your body is relaxed, your immune system is more freed up to do its job. This results in a smaller chance of catching that nasty flu.
And as if those weren’t enough reasons to make you smile…smiling can make you look younger and more attractive! When you smile, certain facial muscles are lifted in your face. These “lifted” muscles allow for a younger, more beautiful look!
There aren’t too many free things in life, but a smile is definitely one of them. And what wonderful health benefits come with smiling!
The dentists here at Montgomery Dentistry are proud to be a part of protecting and maintaining something as valuable as your smile!
